The Islamic Unification Center in New Jersey announced on Thursday the death of Egyptian reader Sheikh Abdullah Kamel at the age of 38.

He went to America to lead Muslims in Taraweeh prayers during the holy month of Ramadan, a custom that has been the practice in past years.

"With heavy hearts, we announce the death of our beloved Sheikh Abdullah Kamel, who led us in Taraweeh prayers last year and Eid prayers this year," al-Tawhid said in his obituary posted on Facebook.

"He was an internationally renowned reciter of the Qur'an, and his recitation was a source of comfort and inspiration for all of us, and his voice filled our hearts with the love of God Almighty, and we will continue to immortalize the memories of his beautiful recitation."

The young reader and poet was introduced among the people to a number of videos on YouTube, whether with his dewy voice, his sweet chant, or some videos that carry a humorous spirit.

Sheikh Abdullah was born blind in 1985 in the village of Al-Mushrik Al-Qibli in Fayoum Governorate, and memorized the Holy Quran in his childhood in the manner of Brian.

He graduated from the Faculty of Dar Al Uloom at Fayoum University in 2005, and participated in a competition called the Golden Flute in 2015 presented on Al-Fajr satellite channel, in which he won first place.

Social media users in Egypt and the Muslim world were saddened by the announcement of Sheikh Abdullah Kamel's death.

He was mourned by many famous preachers and recitationists in the Arab world, including Dr. Ahmed Issa Al-Maasrawi, professor of hadith at Al-Azhar University and the former sheikh of all Egyptian homes, as well as the famous reciter Mishari Rashid Al-Afasy.
