A case of measles was confirmed in Gothenburg on Wednesday, reports Göteborgs-Posten. The infected person has been treated at several different health centres and everyone who may have come into contact with the infection is now being sought. Information about the case should have been sent to emergency departments, health centers and 1177 Vårdguiden. Smittskydd Västra Götaland immediately started with contact tracing and preventive work, according to a press release.

Cases also in Stockholm

Last week, a case of measles was found at the Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital in Stockholm. The other children who have been in the hospital must have been vaccinated to avoid further spread of infection.

– It is important to keep in mind that most residents are vaccinated and that measles is very rare in Sweden today. Vaccination provides very good protection against measles, says infectious disease doctor Thomas Wahlberg in a press release.
