On his last day of his three-day visit to Catalonia, the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, participated in the feast of Sant Jordi at the PP stall in Barcelona distributing roses and buying books. In addition, he defended the "comeback of constitutionalism in Catalonia" which he considers "good" for the two main objectives of his formation: "Social reconciliation and economic recovery".

Feijóo recalled that politicians are "to serve and unite citizens; not to divide or fragment society" and appealed to the "spirit of comeback of the PP of Catalonia to seek those great consensuses" in the next municipal elections. In addition, he assured that his intention is to "seek solutions to the problems of the people" such as the occupation of homes, remembering that of every ten illegal occupations of homes in Spain, four occur in Barcelona, drought, rising prices or unemployment, among others. "Those are most of the problems of the Catalans and our goal is to reduce them," said Feijóo, who recalled that the PP of Catalonia is a "constitutionalist and Catalanist" party.

On this visit, Feijóo took the opportunity to buy some books. Among them, 'Free yourself!' by Juan Milián, 'number 2' in the candidacy of the PP in Barcelona, since it seems to him "a message of Catalan society". "The problem of Catalonia is a problem that we have to solve through tolerance and through social reconstruction and this book I think is a positive and optimistic message," said the PP leader who hopes that "the independence movement will diminish so that the silent or soft majority is the majority at the polls."

Also the PP candidate for Mayor of Barcelona, Daniel Sirera, claimed the "spirit of harmony and freedom" that he sees in the Diada de Sant Jordi and has asked to maintain this spirit the rest of the year. "It is a day that for us represents the best of Barcelona and Catalonia: culture, literature and love," he said.

Future "with optimism"

The Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, also enjoyed the festivity of Sant Jordi, who assured that "Catalonia and Barcelona look to the future with optimism". He remarked that the pandemic taught citizens "to enjoy each day as if it were their last, and with Sant Jordi Barcelona and Catalonia are enjoying life, culture and reading".

For his part, the PSC candidate for Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni. He pointed out that this holiday represents for the Socialists "a beautiful and memorable day because it represents the values they have always defended in Barcelona and Catalonia, a meeting point for dialogue."
