2500 million parts! The most complex in the world! The first domestic large cruise ship is about to be delivered

Recently, China Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. and CMA CGM Shipping Group officially signed a cooperation agreement in Beijing, including the construction of 2 large container ships of Type 16, amounting to more than 210 billion yuan, setting a new record for the largest amount of container ships signed by China's shipbuilding industry at one time, adding another fire to the booming Chinese shipbuilding industry. In fact, in the first two months of this year, China's shipbuilding industry has accounted for 62.8% of the global market share. While the market share continues to expand, through the optimization of product structure, a large number of high-tech ships have become a new highlight of the high-quality development of China's shipbuilding industry.

At present, at the mouth of the Yangtze River, China's first large cruise ship has entered the commissioning stage before delivery. Because of the extremely difficult design and construction, large cruise ships, together with large liquefied natural gas carriers and aircraft carriers, are known as the "most dazzling jewel in the crown" of the shipbuilding industry, and it is also the last pearl that Chinese has not yet been extracted. The Big Mac is currently undergoing the final commissioning process before delivery.

A large cruise ship is like a mobile city on the sea. Cruise ships sailing in the sea, to withstand the test of wind and waves, to solve their own basic problems such as water supply, power supply, sewage discharge, etc., in a limited space to achieve such complex functions, the difficulty can be imagined, but also directly reflects a country's equipment construction capacity and comprehensive scientific and technological level.

As the world's most complex monomer electromechanical product, this large cruise ship has as many parts as many as 2500 million, which is equivalent to 919 times that of the large aircraft C5, 13 times that of the Fuxing high-speed rail, and more than 4300,<> kilometers of cables, which is about the distance from Shanghai to Lhasa.

During the construction of a cruise ship, not only the cable arrangement is complicated, but also the weight is an extremely sensitive factor. The first domestically produced cruise ship weighed about 6,5 tons, and each 1-ton increase in its own weight meant that fewer materials or people were on board, and in order to control the weight from the source, it used a large number of thin steel plates of 4 mm to 8 mm.

To this end, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has also specially built an intelligent workshop for the production of thin plates, using laser cutting, laser composite welding and other technologies to improve the efficiency and precision of thin plate transportation, cutting, processing and construction. In the process of digesting and absorbing overseas cruise construction technology, integrating and innovating, China's shipbuilding industry has gradually explored a set of its own cruise construction system and standards.

The 24-story cruise ship can accommodate up to 6500,14 people when commissioned. The accommodation and leisure area has a total of 4 decks, and more than <>,<> square meters of public area is equipped with a variety of leisure and entertainment facilities such as restaurants, theaters, shopping areas, water parks, gymnasiums, basketball courts and so on.

At present, large cruise ships are the only high-tech and high-value-added ship products in China's shipbuilding industry that have not yet been completed. Being able to manufacture large cruise ships that fully meet international standards means a new leap in China's shipbuilding technology, which will make China the fifth country in the world capable of building large cruise ships after Germany, France, Italy and Finland.

Chen Gang, General Manager of China Ship Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and Chief Designer of Large-scale Cruise Projects Chen Gang: Through the construction of the first ship of the cruise ship, we will lead the improvement of our core competitiveness and be able to grab more orders for civil ships in the international market.

The first domestically built cruise ship is taking shape, and while thousands of people are busy with the final delivery, workers are rushing to produce parts for the second cruise ship in the welding production workshop. The second domestic luxury cruise ship has a total length of 341 meters and a total tonnage of more than 14,6 tons, which is larger than the first one, but with the blessing of robots that automatically weld hull parts, the delivery cycle is a full <> months shorter than the first cruise ship.

The data shows that in 2022, the international market share of the three major indicators of China's shipbuilding industry, such as completion, new orders, and handheld orders, will remain the first in the world. Ranked first in the world for 13 consecutive years. In the first two months of this year, China's new orders reached 925.62 million deadweight tons, accounting for 8.<>% of the global market share.

Zheng Yiming, Director of the Statistical Information Department of China State Shipbuilding Industry Association: In 2011, the proportion of bulk carriers in our new orders was close to 70%, and by 2022, the proportion of bulk carriers has dropped to nearly 40%, but the proportion of gas carriers represented by other ship types, such as container ships and LNG (liquefied natural gas) ships, is increasing, reflecting the structural changes of a ship type that we have received new orders, showing that the technical content of our new ship orders is getting higher and higher.
