China Weather Network News Since April 4, a large-scale sand and dust weather has struck, and many places such as Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Beijing, and Tianjin have reached the level of sandstorms. This is the eighth sand and dust weather process encountered by China since the beginning of this year, and it is also the second sand and dust storm process after the strong sandstorm process from March 9 to 8 this year, and the intensity is weaker than the last one. How much land area will be covered by this dust process? How long will the dust last? Will there be widespread dust weather in the future? Let's take a look at the interpretation of experts from the Central Meteorological Observatory.

1. What is the scope of influence of this dust weather?

According to Gui Hailin, chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory, as of 7 o'clock today, the sand and dust weather process has affected the area from northern Shandong to northern Henan, and the current affected area has reached about 360.390 million square kilometers. During the day today, as the cold air continues to move south, the sand and dust will be pushed into parts of Jianghuai and even Jiangnan, and the final impact may reach 400.<> million to <> million square kilometers.

Second, what is the intensity of this sand and dust weather? How long will it last?

Since April 4, sandstorms have occurred in southern and eastern Xinjiang, central and western Inner Mongolia, central and western Gansu, Ningxia, north-central Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, northern Shandong, northern Henan, central Jilin, and north-central Liaoning, among which sandstorms have occurred in Hohhot, Bayannur, Alxa, Shanxi Datong, Beijing and other places in Inner Mongolia, and strong sandstorms have occurred in Xilin Gol, Baotou, Ulanqab and Zhangjiakou in Hebei.

Today, as cold air moves east to the south, the dust weather continues to push south. Environmental monitoring shows that the PM10 concentration area spreads to the south as a whole, and the PM10 concentration in southern Henan and southern Shandong exceeds 500 micrograms per cubic meter.

It is expected that this afternoon, as the cold air moves south, the sand and dust weather will also affect Jiangsu, Hubei and even northern Zhejiang, and there may be some remnants during the day tomorrow, but overall, tonight will basically weaken and end tomorrow.

Third, is it common for this sand and dust to affect the south?

In general, the main impact of this sand and dust weather is still concentrated in the north of the Yangtze River, but due to the strong intensity, coupled with the transport effect of the high-altitude northerly airflow, the sand and dust will be transported southward to northern Zhejiang or northern Hunan, but the impact intensity is not large.

This situation is not uncommon, and since March this year, as long as the process reaches the level of Yangsha or above, most of them will affect the north of the Yangtze River, such as the sand and dust process on March 3-3, which affected Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.

4. What are the main reasons for the more sand and dust weather this year?

There are two main reasons, one is that from January to March this year, the temperature in the country is generally high, coupled with the low precipitation in the entire northern region, the exposed surface area is large, and the source of sand and dust is sufficient; Second, since the beginning of this year, cold and warm air activities have also been more frequent, and the windy weather in the northern region has increased, which is conducive to the transportation of sand and dust.

5. Will there be a large-scale impact of sand and dust weather in the future?

According to the forecast, from April 4 to 13, there will still be more sand and dust weather in northwest China and north China, of which from the night of the 16th to the 13th, the sand and dust weather may again affect Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and other places, and the public needs to pay attention to the forecast now.

The meteorological department reminds that in the coming week, how much windy and dust weather will be in the northern region, and North China, Huanghuai and Northeast China need to pay attention to the low visibility of sand and dust affecting traffic travel, and do a good job in traffic safety facilitation and management; At the same time, it is concerned about the health risks caused by high concentrations of sand and dust particles to the human respiratory system; Affected by strong winds and other factors, the forest and grassland fire risk meteorological level in eastern Inner Mongolia, northern Hebei, northern Beijing, central Heilongjiang, central Jilin, northern Liaoning and other places is relatively high, and it is recommended that all localities strengthen the management of wildland fire sources and do a good job in the investigation and rectification of fire risk hidden danger points.
