The New York Times recently reported that Twitter and many other social media have recently appeared a batch of suspected US military secret documents, involving intelligence such as the strength and weapon configuration of the Ukrainian side in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, battlefield maps, casualties on both sides of Russia and Ukraine, and even intelligence marked as "top secret".

As of the 7th, all parties had different views on the authenticity of the document. The U.S. Department of Justice announced an investigation, and the Ukrainian government convened a high-level emergency meeting. If true, it means that the United States is more deeply involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and how strong it is to provide intelligence to support Ukraine than ever before.

Highly sensitive

The New York Times reported on the 6th that someone recently uploaded a batch of classified military intelligence on social media such as Twitter, "Telegram" software and the four-leaf website, and the number may exceed 100. The US mainstream media reported again on the 7th that a new batch of military intelligence secrets involving Ukraine and the Middle East appeared on social media.

According to multiple media reports, the US government is trying to "delete posts", but there are still documents circulating on the Internet.

Based on multiple sources, some of the documents are photos of combat maps, with detailed annotations, different dates, and a time span of about 5 weeks, with the most recent date being March 3. However, although the document contains many military details, it does not address specific battle plans.

One of the documents, which contains the status of training and equipment deliveries for Ukrainian recruits from January to April this year, shows that the Ukrainian side is in the process of forming 1 brigades of combat units, nine of which are trained and supplied by the United States and other NATO member states. Of the nine brigades, six are scheduled to be in place by 4 March, while the remaining three are scheduled to be ready by 12 April. In total, these nine brigades require more than 9 tanks and more than 9 armored vehicles.

The documents also list the ammunition consumption rate of the Ukrainian army, including the "Haimas" high-mobility rocket artillery system assisted by the United States. The United States claims that this rocket artillery can launch precision strikes on targets such as ammunition depots, infrastructure and troop assembly areas in the Russian rear.

Another document, labeled "top secret," lists "the conflict as of March 3," including a record of the deaths of 1,1 to 6,1 Russian soldiers in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and more than 75,7 on the Ukrainian side. This is quite different from the Pentagon's previous claims that Russia suffered nearly 20,10 casualties and Ukrainian casualties of more than <>,<>.

Authenticity is disputed

The New York Times, citing an analyst at the Dutch investigative website Bellcat, reported that the first documents appeared to have been published on the Discord chat app in early March.

According to Reuters on the 7th, three US officials who did not want to be named as sources, Russia or pro-Russian people spread these secret documents, but the above-mentioned officials did not disclose any evidence and details. The Russian Embassy in the United States did not respond to questions for the time being.

Some analysts believe that the military details in the document such as troop strength and weapon configuration "look very real." For example, the ammunition consumption rate of the "Hymas" system disclosed in the document has never been disclosed by the United States before.

Some people also believe that although the US side has announced the launch of the investigation, the possibility of the United States directing and acting cannot be ruled out.

The United States and Ukraine are trying to downplay the possible impact of the document leak, but many analysts have regarded the incident as the biggest intelligence leak since the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Some analysts believe that whether the leaked documents are true or not, they will inevitably have a greater impact on all parties, involving military deployment, intelligence security and sharing, personnel verification and other aspects, and may even affect the trend of the Russian-Ukrainian war this spring to a certain extent.

Under the leadership of the United States, the West continues to send weapons and equipment to Ukraine, provide personnel training and intelligence support, and constantly add fuel to the fire. Although the White House admitted that the United States provided Ukraine with "a large amount of specific and timely" Russia-related intelligence, it still claimed that the United States had no intention of directly participating in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

In response to the statement of the US side, the Russian side has repeatedly refuted, pointing out that the US-led NATO collects intelligence unfavorable to Russia around the clock and provides advanced weapons to Ukraine, in fact, it has become a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on the leakage of secret documents of the US military that "we do not have the slightest suspicion that the United States and NATO are directly or indirectly involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict", and the degree of participation of the United States and NATO in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is deepening.
