Nablus – In the blink of an eye, the "Jordan Valley Operation", as it was called Palestinian, was carried out on Friday morning, with a mechanism that surprised everyone in terms of time and place, especially since it took place in an area described as a "security" par excellence for the Israeli occupation army.

Israel's ambulance service said two settlements were killed and a third seriously wounded on Friday in a shooting in the Hamra area of the Jordan Valley in the northeastern West Bank. A spokesman for the Israeli occupation army stated that the three settlements were subjected to armed attack before the attackers withdrew, and that it was initially suspected that the car had been involved in a traffic accident, but it was found that there were traces of bullets inside.

Although it was not specified who the perpetrators of the attack withdrew, the occupation army deployed heavily at the site of the attack and the surrounding areas, especially in the Tubas governorate in the northern West Bank, and the soldiers raided villages there and confiscated surveillance camera recordings, while settlers burned houses belonging to citizens near the site of the operation.

The site of the attack is surrounded by the settlements of "Al-Hamra" and "Makhura", which are perched on citizens' land in the "Furush Beit Dajan" area, in addition to the Al-Furush camp, and the occupation army classifies the place among the sites for military training.

Site gravity

What happened is not only a security failure of the occupation, according to Mohammed Abu Thabet, an activist in documenting the occupation's attacks in the "Furush Beit Dajan" area, who explained that the operation took place in a triangle that is one of the most dangerous security squares of the occupation army, known as the Hamra Bridge Triangle, which is a very dangerous security area for the occupation.

Abu Thabet adds to Al Jazeera Net that the area is monitored by military towers and cameras that the occupation army recently and doubled the lighting poles in it, which is also close to the settlement of Hamra and another camp belonging to the occupation army on the opposite side of the settlement, and the most complex of all that that the operation was carried out hundreds of meters from the Hamra military checkpoint, known for its security grip on the area and its complex military procedures.

He stressed that the road is classified as very vital and a link between 3 governorates, namely Nablus, Tubas and Jericho, and it also connects the north and south of the West Bank through Road 90, and is considered a military barracks and a fortress for the occupation army, and it is not without military patrols or settler vehicles around the clock.

In addition to being a military barracks, the site, according to Tawfiq Haj Mohammed, a member of the village council of the "Furush Beit Dajan" area, has become a permanent checkpoint for Palestinian vehicles through mobile checkpoints erected by the occupation army to secure the passage of settlers, in addition to successive incursions into the village, house searches, and the detention of citizens and the disruption of their lives.

Hajj Mohammed says to Al Jazeera Net that the process is a catastrophic defect in the security of the occupation, praising the will and courage of the Palestinian resistance, who stormed the place and carried out his operation and quietly withdrew, stressing that the occupation procedures and attacks he and the settlers against the Palestinians generate resistance in all its forms.

Security failure

In the same context, Israeli affairs specialist Said Bisharat said that the Jordan Valley and any area in the West Bank, despite the military and security fortifications of the occupation, remain with geographical terrain that facilitates the implementation of such operations, and weakens the ability of the occupation army to prevent them.

Bisharat, who hails from the central Jordan Valley, explained that although the site of the operation is described as a closed military zone for the occupation army and a strategic area for settlers, resistance operations there are successful because those who carried out the area and its geography are well known.

On the Israeli level, Bisharat said that the operation reflects the "real disintegration and relaxation" of the occupation army and its military capabilities in light of the current Israeli political situation, especially after the dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Galant against the backdrop of internal protests over the so-called judicial amendments.

Bisharat added that the political differences in Israel have created an army that is unable to guard and monitor public streets, in addition to the complex and complex situation in Israel in front of the resistance fronts in the West Bank, Jerusalem, Gaza and Lebanon, adding, "All this has created a general situation through which the resistance can exploit the gaps and carry out successful operations par excellence."

IDF Central Command commander Yehuda Fox acknowledged the army's failure to prevent the operation, despite being reinforced with troops to protect the roads, while Yossi Dagan, head of the Northern West Bank Settlements Council, attacked him, saying, "Holding the perpetrators accountable is not what is required, we hope for an actual war."

Operations amid military barracks

Last September, a similar operation was carried out in the area by Palestinian stalker Maher Turkman from Jenin camp, one of his sons and nephew, who wounded Israeli soldiers inside a bus they were traveling in near the Hamra checkpoint, and was also preceded by an operation carried out by the Aqbat Jabr Camp Brigade last February.

The Palestinian Valley constitutes 28% of the West Bank, and Israel controls 88% of it through its classification as "state land, military training areas and nature reserves," and constantly seeks to displace its residents, and the occupation also establishes 7 army camps and more than 33 settlements.
