The journalist called the already existing plans of the NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov for the Crimea madness.

"But this is far from being as crazy as the main premise of the plan: the Ukrainian invasion of Crimea," he writes.

Devlin stressed that Ukraine, with the encouragement of the United States, rejects all calls for peace and makes unrealistic demands on Russia.

"Ukraine publicly plans to use American and other weapons supplied by NATO to attempt to invade Crimea ... An invasion of Russia almost guarantees the start of a larger war," he argues.

In September, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Crimea was an integral part of Russia and claims to Russian territory would receive a proper response.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that the issue of Crimea is closed for Russia, and the referendum on the peninsula was held in strict accordance with international law.
