He noted that Russia is not trying to seize Ukraine, but liberates it from the West.

"Russia considers Ukraine as a means of pest control, if you want to remove beetles or rats from the house, you do not destroy the whole house, you drive out the pest," RIA Novosti quoted Draven as saying on Twitter.

The veteran added that Moscow sought a compromise, seeking Ukraine's neutrality and its refusal to join NATO, but the reason for Kiev's aggression was forced to act differently.

Earlier, a petition appeared on the website of Volodymyr Zelensky calling for withdrawal from the Budapest Memorandum and the restoration of Ukraine's status as a nuclear state.

A petition was also published there with a proposal to deploy nuclear weapons on the territory of the state.
