We tested the Bissell SpinWave: our opinion on the 2-in-1 cleaner and polisher

The Bissell SpinWave is an excellent floor cleaner, which allows you to effectively wash your surfaces without breaking the bank. This mid-range device has many of the best features of the Bissell brand. We appreciate its rotating pads that almost drive the device forward, so you have no effort to make to reach all the corners, the machine does it for you! In addition to this unparalleled rotating power, this cleaner is versatile, since a simple change of skates can polish your floors and restore them to their former shine. No more stains on the wood, dirt embedded in the tiles, lumbago and other cramps by dint of mopping for hours ... With the Bissell SpinWave, it takes just a few minutes to get floors like new. We did not like that the skates get dirty so quickly, you have to clean them after each use, but it's a bad for a good since they go to the machine. The Bissell SpinWave test was based on several criteria: the cleaning function first, the most important, on wood and tiles. Then the floor polishing function on parquet, and finally the spray function on request, which allows you to adjust the amount of product used. We love it!

The Bissell SpinWave cleaner and polisher is about 1m20 high when the handle is stretched, and it weighs 4.31kg empty tank. The tank can hold 0.83L which makes it very light throughout use. It has an ergonomic handle to grip it without the risk of it slipping out of your hands. The button to control the vaporization is mounted on the handle and it's easy to press it with your thumb. The on/off button is also on the handle, just below the spray button, which is very convenient for turning the device on or off at its convenience.

The handle can fold to allow you to clean under furniture or cramped places. Just put your foot on the skates and pull gently towards yourself. The mechanism is activated and it is then possible to use it almost at 90°. The spray function is of course always accessible, since it goes from the jar to between the skates. When you press the spray button a very slight noise tells you that it has started, and then you just have to point the Bissell SpinWave where you want it. To stop vaporization, simply release the press on the button. The transparent tank is located on the back of the device so you can see how much product you have left at a glance.

The Bissell SpinWave cleaner and polisher is powered by a 6.7-metre cable that leaves a wide range to clean your surfaces without having to constantly change the power outlet. The connectivity is European, for a power of 105 Watts and 220 Volts. To store the cable easily simply roll it on itself before placing it on the lower part of the handle which is slightly curved. This allows him not to get tangled and not to get damaged by dragging on the ground.

The design of the cleaner is mostly black with blue details that enhance the skates and the structure of the device. The skates are white which is very convenient to see the amount of dirt harvested. These skates are also flexible which allows them to reach the care without difficulty. As for the sound volume, the motor of the Bissell SpinWave runs at about 56dB, which is almost silent and quite bearable even in an apartment.

The cleaner comes with two Bissell cleaning products, the multi-surface and the Wood Floor. The two bottles are 236mL each, or 5 or 6 washes in a row before completing the quantity. They smell spring and lemon smells respectively.

Cleaning: a swivel control for a gentle washing of all your surfaces

Our first criterion for evaluating the Bissell SpinWave is its cleaning capacity on both tiles and wood. Indeed, the pads turn on themselves and the rotating power allows them to move almost autonomously, which is perfect for simple and effective cleaning. The skates are round, which can be an obstacle to go clean the corners, but they are flexible enough to reach even the most cramped places. There may be a small triangle left to clean manually, but this is rare. This swivel control also applies to the device itself: if the handle can only be manipulated up and down, the hook on the skates when it rotates which makes it very easy to change direction without having to move yourself. Moreover, the inclination of the handle of the Bissell SpinWave makes it possible to clean even under the furniture. The rotating power of the pads allows dirt to be fixed on the fabric rather than sending it flying elsewhere. Be careful though, if there is too much dust accumulated, or too much dirt in general for example in the kitchen or in the bathroom, cleaning will not be as effective. It is better in this case to pass a quick sweep so as not to hinder the proper functioning of the swivel control of the device. It can be tedious, but it's always much faster than a mop. We like that the device moves almost itself from the front without escaping your hands: it greatly limits physical effort, and it can be very suitable for people with physical disabilities who need to limit movement.

Polishing: 2 scouring pads to overcome all impurities

Then, we wanted to test the polishing function of the floors on parquet. To do this, simply change the soft skates for the scouring skates that overcome the most diverse stains. From dog paw tracks to spilled tea drops to shoe tracks, scouring skates can greatly minimize or even remove even stubborn stains. We like the skates to remain soft on the wood, without the risk of damaging it. This advantage means that it is sometimes necessary to make several passes to make the spots disappear, but it is a bad for a good. The product Bissell Wood Floor was very effective during our test on the steps of a wooden staircase borrowed several times a day. It was simply necessary to pass a first sweep to remove the dirt too big. If you can overcome Bissell Multi-Surface and Wood Floor products, simply use your usual products. Indeed the container can be filled with the products you want, regardless of the brand.

Spray: manual adjustment of the amount of water to meet your needs

Our third endpoint is the vaporization of the amount of cleaning product. Is it as good as they say? We first tried on tiles, where water is more likely to drip. To activate the vaporization just press the button on the handle, and release it as soon as you have enough product. This process is automatically activated with the pressure of the thumb and stops as soon as it is released. We tried to make it malfunction by shaking the cleaner during spraying, but we found no problem, it stops as soon as you want. We then tested on wood to see if the water would clog the soil. Again, no worries, vaporization stops as soon as you release the pressure. It's very easy to see how much product you've sprayed by moving the skates spinning without splashing around. The product is well sprayed at the skates without drowning your soil. We like that the Bissell SpinWave allows you to focus on stubborn spots to make them disappear. The vaporization coupled with the scouring skates has made it possible to remove traces of dog paws yet there for weeks. That's saying something! We like less that the product empties quickly enough after prolonged vaporization, but it is so simple to fill that it is not a real problem.

The Bissell SpinWave cleaner and polisher: strengths and weaknesses

To sum up, the Bissell SpinWave cleaner and polisher has several strong points: it is very quiet, which makes its use very practical in apartments. The spray function is very well calibrated, no risk of clogging your floors by cleaning. We also appreciate its cleaning and polishing capacity thanks to its rotating power that overcomes stubborn stains. We didn't like the fact that skates get dirty so quickly, we would have liked them to last a little longer after each use. They quickly turn gray with all the dirt accumulated on them, but it at least has the merit of proving that it is effective. You can wash them by machine or by hand if you want to reuse them as soon as possible. We also regret that the products are only 236ml, the bottles are really quite small. On the other hand, we love that this product is so accessible to people with disabilities: it is possible to tilt the handle of the cleaner with one hand by pressing it, and the two on/off and spray buttons are very accessible with one hand again. This Bissell cleaner certainly does not have the suction function of the Bissell CrossWave but it remains a very profitable purchase for those who want to take care of their surfaces quickly, efficiently and safely.

Which cleaning products to use with the Bissell SpinWave?

The Bissell SpinWave cleaner and polisher comes with two small bottles of product.
