All 30 member countries have now ratified Finland's membership and Finland will be admitted to NATO within a few days. That's what NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday, Reuters reported.

"I look forward to hoisting Finland's flag at NATO headquarters within the next few days," Jens Stoltenberg wrote on Twitter.

He also says that he looks forward to welcoming Sweden as a member as soon as possible.

Then Sweden can be a member of NATO

The Turkish parliament voted through the decision to approve Finland as a member on Thursday evening. In the days before, Hungary also approved Finland's NATO application.

Although Sweden and Finland applied for membership at the same time last summer, Sweden will have to wait its turn. This is because Sweden has not been approved by either Turkey or Hungary yet. Among other things, Hungary refers to Sweden criticizing the country's judiciary.

In an interview with SVT's Agenda a few weeks ago, Tobias Billström said that he was "completely convinced" that Sweden would become a NATO member for the NATO summit in July. Later, he has changed his mind and now says that he has "high hopes" that Sweden will become a member this summer.
