When this year's collective bargaining round starts, 450 collective agreements covering two million wage earners will be renegotiated. First up is the industry that sets the so-called "mark".

The industrial agreement usually becomes a wage mark for the entire labor market.

The unions nobbed the first proposal

The industrial dissertations began earlier in March. Last week, the negotiations' mediator, the Non-Partisan Chairmen (Opo), presented a first pay offer that was accepted by employers – but not by the unions.

The two-year proposal would yield wage increases totaling 6.5 percent, of which 3.7 percent in the first year and 2.8 percent in the second year. In addition, it was proposed that the minimum wages in the agreement be increased by SEK 1,300, something that is taken from the total space of 6.5 percent.

The unions' criticism was mainly about the proposal's low wage increases, and that they wanted to put the agreement over two years instead of one.

"Wage increases must be substantially higher and the minimum wages of the agreements must be raised more," then-Union President Martin Linder said in a written statement.

The unions are generally hesitant about a deal longer than one year, in the current uncertain economic conditions.

The mediators' final bid is presented

What is decided in the agreement round then forms the basis for LO coordination. That is, the agreement that the 14 LO unions make to create common requirements.

At 19:00 p.m., the mediators' final bid will now be presented together with the unions and employers. SVT broadcasts live starting at 18.57.
