The clinic currently has 130 employees and will be able to perform about 2600 births per year. But the ultimate goal is to be able to manage 2025 births per year by 4000, with the help of expanded premises and even more staff.

At the same time, there have been frequent reports of work environment problems and staff shortages in obstetric care. Therefore, the hospital has tried to lure back people who have chosen to leave the profession.

"About 25 percent of our recruited midwives are returnees," says Malin Thorsell, Operations Manager, St. Göranssjukhus.

Why is that, do you think?

"I think people are curious about the new, and that we have been clear that we are trying to follow "one midwife per birth".
