The new factory has started to test manufacture an active material needed for Northvolt's batteries. Now about thirty people work there – but the plan is to get up to a hundred employees.

The idea is that Dongjin will be part of a local ecosystem with subcontractors directly adjacent to the giant battery factory.

"It's quite common now for a large supplier to be like the hub that wants to keep track of all suppliers and they have climate-smart solutions. It's great that this is happening now in northern Sweden," says Business Sweden's CEO Jan Larsson, who attended the opening ceremony.

Over time, plans for production at the Northvolt factory have increased – in the clip you can see how it affects the subcontractor Dongjin.
