The LFI and communist parties and parliamentary groups have decided not to go to Matignon next week. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne had expressed her wish to invite them in order to "appease the country".

The parties and parliamentary groups LFI and communists have decided not to go next week to Matignon, where Elisabeth Borne wanted to receive them, they announced Thursday, again demanding the withdrawal of the pension reform. The head of government had expressed, in an interview with AFP, her wish to invite them in order to "appease the country". "The France Insoumise and its parliamentary group will not go to meet Elisabeth Borne," tweeted LFI coordinator Manuel Bompard, adding that it was to take place on Monday. "With the parliamentarians of the Nupes, we will go in procession to demand the withdrawal of the text of the law in front of the Elysee Palace on Tuesday morning."

"We ask to be received by the president"

The communists do the same. "As it is at the Elysée that everything is unfortunately decided, we decline the invitation of the Prime Minister. We ask to be received by the President of the Republic. It is urgent that he acts!", commented the national secretary of the PCF Fabien Roussel on Twitter.

The communist parliamentarians are at the initiative of the "republican procession" which will march from the Assembly to the Elysee Palace on Tuesday morning to "deliver, in person, to the President of the Republic a letter" requesting the withdrawal of the reform which provides for the postponement of the legal age of departure to 64 years, they write in a statement. The Socialist group is waiting to receive Elisabeth Borne's invitation to decide, according to a parliamentary source. Asked by AFP, the ecologists did not follow up at this stage.
