The National Police in the Balearic Islands has arrested Juan Gayá, a popular sports betting forecaster, in Mallorca as part of a police operation against money laundering in several parts of the country against a criminal organization.

Sources close to the investigation have confirmed to EFE that Gayà has been arrested on Tuesday at his home located in the Mallorcan town of Santa Eugenia.

The Specialized and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV) of the General Commissariat of the Judicial Police has taken charge of the operation, which has been declared secret, as the local press has advanced. During the arrest at his home in Santa Eugenia, the Mallorcan has put up strong resistance to the agents and has injured three of them.

Through a website, Gayà was dedicated to advising on sports betting. He also starred in some television programs where he boasted of being a millionaire.
