The Minister for Infrastructure's statement comes after Riksdag member Mattias Jonsson (S) asked questions about how the government intends to act to handle the Swedish Transport Administration's increasing costs for the construction of the West Link and what is being done to ensure that the construction meets the schedule without the cost ending up.

In addition to taking the issue very seriously, Andreas Carlsson (KD) writes that he assumes that the Swedish Transport Administration takes "the necessary measures" and he follows the case very closely.

Unclear about consequences

However, he cannot comment on the consequences of the cost increase.

"What financial consequences will arise due to sub-project Haga is not yet clear as a new procurement must be carried out," he writes.

Much work remains to be done

SVT Nyheter Väst has examined the finances around Västlänken and recently revealed that the money will not be enough, as not a single one of the four sub-projects stays within the framework of the tenders.

In total, the four parts of the construction of Västlänken have so far cost SEK 3.3 billion more than the total contract amount. At the same time, more than half of the work remains and the Swedish Transport Administration has admitted that they do not know what the final bill lands on.

The other day, several opposition parties in Gothenburg demanded that the government must appoint an accident commission for the West Link.
