A breakdown in the catenary or pantograph at the exit of Sants station in Barcelona has caused the interruption of the high-speed service between Barcelona, Girona and Figueres-Vilafant (Girona), Renfe sources reported on Tuesday.
The interruption of this Tuesday is the second that occurs in an AVE in less than 12 hours after last night about 40 people stayed more than an hour in the tunnel.
The incident occurred at 9.20 am and caused the stop of the Avant train bound for Figueres-Vilafant that left Barcelona at 9.10 am, and the 111 passengers were evacuated with the help of the Bombers of the Generalitat through the emergency exits of the tunnel and have continued their journey by road.
Renfe has explained that the rest of the affected services make the interrupted journey through Rodalies trains.
