The showdown continues. The France is experiencing Tuesday, March 28 a new day of national mobilization against the pension reform. Nearly 150 rallies or demonstrations are planned across the country as the government, like the trade union organizations opposed to the project, are sticking to the position.

  • Surprised by the scale of the mobilization on Thursday – 1.09 million participants according to the Interior, more than 3 million according to the unions – the authorities expect this time a total of 650,000 to 900,000 demonstrators, including 70,000 to 100,000 in Paris.
  • After clashes during the latest demonstrations, marking a hardening of the conflict, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced an "unprecedented" security device with 13,000 police and gendarmes, including 5,500 in the capital.
  • At the same time, the day brings its share of blockages. Train traffic remains limited with three TGVs out of five and one TER out of two on average according to the SNCF. In primary education, 30% of teachers will be on strike according to the FSU, the main union.
