"At present, the prerequisites for the restoration of the Russian-American dialogue on strategic stability are not visible," he said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.

He added that in order to resume contacts on the START Treaty, it is necessary that Washington abandon hostile rhetoric against Russia.

The suspension of Russia's participation in the START Treaty on February 21 during the address to the Federal Assembly was previously announced by President Vladimir Putin. At the same time, he stressed that Moscow does not withdraw from the agreement.

As Putin explained, the United States and NATO require Russia to comply with the terms of the treaty, while seeking to inflict a strategic defeat on it.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the decision to suspend the country's participation in the START Treaty will not be revised. According to the deputy head of the department, Sergei Ryabkov, Washington too late started talking about a certain plan for inspections.
