• In Cádiz Queen Letizia shows in one day her two faces: the most formal and the transgressive

The Kings have been encouraged this afternoon to participate in a popular "cajoneada", organized at the gates of the Gran Teatro Falla de Cádiz, where Felipe VI has sat in a flamenco cajón with other citizens who were learning to play.

The sound of the flamenco cajón, a symbol of miscegenation between Hispanic cultures, has welcomed this afternoon in Cádiz the IX International Congress of the Spanish Language, and upon arrival at the theater to attend the inaugural show, Time of light, the kings, after leaving the car, have approached the place where the "cajoneada" was celebrated.

"El primer rey cajonero" has proclaimed "el Guille", one of the percussionists who have directed this sound action in which 62 drawers have been joined.

The Queen and the King have then approached in the two drawers that were free and Felipe VI has briefly played one of them, joining the singing of the rumba Ali oh.

The Cervantes Institute and the City Council of Cádiz have organized a cajoneada to commemorate the origin of the flamenco cajón, with this activity to which the attending public has joined.

It was in 1977 when Paco de Lucía discovered this instrument, the cajón, on a tour of America in Peru, the sound caught his attention and he began to play the guitar with it.

The "cajoneada" has also been a hymn to solidarity with Peru, and especially with Arequipa, the town where this congress was to be held until the difficult situation of the Andean country forced its transfer to another scenario, Cádiz.
