This year, the Finnish parliamentary elections attracted over 10,000 people to one of the 28 polling stations in Sweden. This is the highest number since statistics began to be kept on the votes that have come from Sweden.

Can also vote by post

Expatriate Finns have traditionally had a low turnout in Finnish elections. Voting at polling stations is purely for advance voting and this year was the last day to cast their vote on Saturday.

Since the last parliamentary elections in 2019, it has also been possible to vote by post, which in itself has raised the turnout a little. There is still time to vote by post, but it should be ensured that the letter reaches the right constituency by Friday, March 31.

Why does only 1 in 10 expatriate Finns use their right to vote in parliamentary elections? Researcher Johanna Peltoniemi tells us more in Sunday's episode of 15 minutes from Uutiset.
