China News Network Panjin, March 3 (Reporter Han Hong) The reporter learned from the Liaoning Provincial Department of Natural Resources on the 27th that when the Panjin City Natural Resources Comprehensive Law Enforcement Team recently went to the Liaohe estuary to patrol, it found that on the shore where fresh water and sea water meet, hundreds of Western Pacific spotted seals gathered with cubs to roost.

In recent years, Panjin City, Liaoning Province has carried out the work of retiring the "blue bay" to restore 8,59 mu of coastal wetlands and add 17.6 kilometers of natural shoreline, creating a good breeding and habitat environment for the western Pacific spotted seals that migrate every year.

It is reported that Liaodong Bay of the Bohai Sea is one of the eight breeding areas of the world's eight spotted seals, and the migration time of spotted seals in 8 is earlier than in previous years, and the number is also more than in previous years. It is understood that the spotted seal will spend two months in the reserve with its cubs, and in May, after the spotted seal has been replenished, it will embark on a long journey back to the Pacific Ocean.

The Liaohe estuary area has 2165,463 square kilometers of natural coastal wetlands, inhabited by more than <> kinds of wild animals, is an important stopping and breeding ground for rare species such as red-crowned cranes, black-billed gulls and spotted seals, is the home of tens of millions of creatures, and is also the resource, assets and capital of Panjin City. Panjin firmly established the concept of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains, and red beach green reeds are also golden mountains and silver mountains", changed "development and protection" to "protection and development", and in view of the serious damage caused by marine aquaculture to the ecological environment of coastal wetlands, which directly threatened the environmental security of wetland ecosystems, Panjin comprehensively launched the project of "retiring and returning wetlands", composing a magnificent chapter in the construction of ecological civilization in Panjin.
