The decision was voted through with 182 yes and six no's. For Finland, all that remains now is for Turkey's parliament to approve their application.

Peter Szijjarto, Hungary's foreign minister, said in recent days that he had difficulty predicting when Sweden's application will be taken up in parliament. This is in connection with his dissatisfaction with both Finnish and Swedish politicians' views on Hungary.

"You know, when Finnish and Swedish politicians question democracy in our political system, it's unacceptable," Szijjarto said in an interview with the AP news agency.

Ratification of Sweden

Last week, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson talked to his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán about why ratification of Sweden's application is delayed.

He is said to have been told during the conversation that Hungary does not intend to put an end to Sweden's NATO process.

"They are not going to delay Swedish NATO ratification," Kristersson said.
