The work will closely combine the key issues of basic disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, etc., focus on the scientific research needs of key areas such as drug research and development, gene research, biological breeding research and development, and new material research and development, promote the innovation of artificial intelligence models and algorithms for major scientific problems, develop a number of AI for Science special platforms for typical scientific research fields, and lay out the AI for Science cutting-edge scientific and technological research and development system.

China has a good foundation in artificial intelligence technology, scientific research data and computing resources, and needs to further strengthen the system layout and overall guidance to promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and scientific research, promote the open convergence of resources, and improve the innovation ability of AI for Science.

Based on this, the special deployment work not only lays out the cutting-edge technology research and development system of AI for Science, but also specifically points out that it is necessary to enhance the support of the basic conditions of AI for Science computing. It is reported that the Ministry of Science and Technology will accelerate the construction of the national new generation of artificial intelligence public computing power open innovation platform, support the heterogeneous integration and development of high-performance computing centers and intelligent computing centers, encourage green energy and low-carbon, promote the upgrading of software and hardware computing technology, and encourage all kinds of scientific research subjects to open scientific data in accordance with the principle of classification and grading.
