The Belt and Road Initiative is an important practice of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the Chinese people in promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and is also an important global public product and international cooperation platform provided by China to the world.
In the fall of 2013, President Xi Jinping put forward major initiatives to build the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Over the past 10 years, adhering to the principle of consultation, co-construction and sharing, China and countries along the "Belt and Road" have always regarded the "hard connection" of infrastructure as an important direction, the "soft connection" of rules and standards as an important support, and the "heart connection" of the people of the country as an important foundation, and have made positive progress and a series of major achievements. With the joint efforts of all parties, the circle of friends of the "Belt and Road" has been expanding, and China has signed cooperation documents with more than 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations. From 2013 to 2022, China's trade in goods with countries along the Belt and Road expanded from US$1.04 trillion to US$2.07 trillion, with an average annual growth rate of 8%. By the end of last year, Chinese enterprises had invested US$571.3 billion in overseas economic and trade cooperation zones built in countries along the Belt and Road, creating 42,1 local jobs and lifting nearly 4000 million people out of poverty. The Belt and Road Initiative will firmly grasp development, the greatest common denominator, continuously promote the implementation of global development initiatives, cultivate new momentum for the development of countries along the route, jointly promote global development to a new stage of balance, coordination and inclusiveness, and build a global development community.
In 2023, the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, China will host the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation to jointly summarize achievements and draw blueprints. In the face of the accelerated evolution of the world's unprecedented changes in a century, and in the face of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" will further highlight high-quality development, focus on the goal of "high standards, sustainability and benefit people's livelihood", and start a new journey in the practice of international cooperation on a larger scale, higher level and deeper level, demonstrating China's responsibility as a major country to promote the construction of a global development community and a community with a shared future for mankind. We must unswervingly follow the requirements put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Third Belt and Road Construction Forum, coordinate development and security, coordinate domestic and international, coordinate cooperation and struggle, coordinate stock and increment, and coordinate overall and key points, build the "Belt and Road" into a "development belt" that benefits the world and a "happy road" for the people of all countries, and promote the steady and long-term development of the "Belt and Road".
