• Health New front in Madrid: strike in the laboratories of six hospitals and 170 health centers
  • Health Up to 950 euros of salary increase and 300 minutes of attention: the keys to stop the strike in Primary Care

After the agreement reached in Primary Care after months of strike and the commitment to improve hospital care with the Ministry of Health, thousands of people have continued with the protests in the streets of Madrid this noon, in a clear rejection of the health model of the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

Convened by the unions and about thirty professional and neighborhood associations and platforms, such as UGT, CCOO, FACUA or the Table in Defense of Public Health (MEDSAP) - Marea Blanca, the massive demonstration has departed from Plaza de España to Puerta de Atocha, between batucadas and banners "in defense of public health" and with the claims of "Ayuso, resignation" or "No more cuts".

At the head of the march, which displayed the slogan 'For a public, universal and quality health in Madrid', participated the general secretary of UGT, Pepe Álvarez, and the leader of Comisiones Obreras, Unai Sordo. While the first has defended that "Madrid is the richest community in Spain and the one that invests the least in health" and has detailed that "hospitals are collapsed; primary care is a disaster; nursing homes are unattended", the leader of CCOO has pointed to "the policies of cuts" and the "tension" of doctors during the pandemic time, as reasons to seek greater investment.

Representatives of the Madrid left have also joined, such as Mónica García, the candidate of Más Madrid to the Community, who stressed that despite the cessation of the strike of family doctors and pediatricians, they continue "the same waiting lists and the same difficulties to have access to a health system in the richest region of all Spain". and has pointed to Ayuso as responsible for the situation of Madrid Health. Likewise, Alejandra Jacinto, the candidate of Podemos, has accused the president of the Community of being "a commercial of the Quirón group" and of dedicating herself to getting "client portfolios".

For her part, the general secretary of Amyts, Ángela Hernández, has declared that "it is not normal that to talk about medical problems we have had to reach five medical strikes." Despite the pact signed with the Ministry, the majority union has also attended this call, to claim "an agreement of PP-PSOE so that, both at the regional and general level, health has a medium-long term model" and do not use it in an "electoralist" way. In fact, from the Nursing Union (Satse) they announce a tidal wave, because their spokeswoman, Teresa Galindo, has expressed her rejection of this last deal: "It seems that there is only money for a group", but "they have not solved primary care", he stressed. "The only thing they have achieved is to fracture the primary care teams due to these remuneration measures," because "now nurses have a greater overload of work."

Among the requests raised by the organizing entities, it has influenced the hiring of between 7,000 and 8,000 health professionals of all categories; in a health expenditure per patient and year up to 500 euros and in a face-to-face care of patients of a maximum of 48 hours.
