On Sunday night, word came that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is forcing Defense Secretary Yoav Gallant to leave the government. That's after he went against the government's plans to change the judiciary.

Netanyahu's move prompted Swede Jonatan Macznik and hundreds of thousands of others to take to the streets and in the middle of the night there are widespread protests. Jonatan Macznik is a human rights lawyer and has lived in Tel Aviv for several years. He has been participating in similar protests for weeks and sees great risks for the government to be given too much leeway to implement any reforms.

"It's also about how the judges should be appointed, whether they should be appointed politically or in a broader process," Jonatan Macznik told SVT Nyheter.

Jonatan Macznik has been foreign policy spokesman for the Liberal Youth League further back in Sweden.
