Ola Bini is arrested at Quito airport in 2019. When his parents in Kode in Kungälv municipality find out that their son has been arrested, their lives are turned upside down.

"It was shocking," says father Dag Gustafsson.

Görel Bini Gustafsson describes that at first she could not understand that it had happened.

"It was terribly hard.

Ola Bini has been in custody for two months. He is then released, but is subject to restrictions and must report weekly to the prosecutor's office. He is forbidden to leave the country.

'Continues to procrastinate'

Hearings in the case have been repeatedly cancelled and postponed. In January this year, a unanimous court announces that Ola Bini is acquitted of all charges. But there is no written judgment yet.

"It feels like they're continuing to procrastinate," Gustafsson says.

The message the parents have received is that the prosecutor will appeal the verdict. Görel Bini Gustavsson believes that the process can continue for many more years.

"We live in uncertainty. It's really tough.
