Hospitality company Liz Lambert, startup 3D construction company Icon and Danish design firm BIG have joined forces to create the world's first 3D printed hotel.

The hotel will open in Marfa, Texas, in 2023, according to a blog post on BIG's website.

Danish architectural design firm Big is behind the iconic architectural wonders at VM and Mountain Dwellings, two Copenhagen-based residential complexes.

Lambert is the founder of El Cosmico, a campsite in Marfa, one of the most visited resorts for travelers around the world, and near which the new hotel will be built with 3D printing technology.

The area of "Cosmico" is 8.5 thousand square meters. But very soon, the 3D print expansion will almost triple that area, turning it into a sprawling desert oasis of 25,<> square meters, with all the necessary elements for summer. The project includes various residences and a huge swimming pool.

Icon is one of the leading construction companies in the use of 3D printing technologies in construction, and has special printing equipment and manufactures special building materials for this equipment.

Icon's signature generation system is based on the Vulcan printer complemented by the Magma portable mixing unit, which produces the building material called Lavacrete, a material developed by the technology company's materials science team and thoroughly tested to ensure its durability and strength.
