Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Gang said China's stance toward a healthy, stable and constructive relationship with the United States has not changed, although it hopes the United States will stop using "unusual" means to contain his country.

Speaking with representatives of U.S.-friendly organizations and companies in Beijing, Chen said China hopes the two countries will work together to strengthen bilateral ties to overcome difficulties.

Chen said his country's position on developing healthy, stable and constructive relations between China and the United States remains unchanged. China has always believed that the two countries should respect each other, coexist peacefully and cooperate for mutual benefit, he said.

Chen urged the U.S. side to abandon the win-lose mentality, stop containing and suppressing China through unfair means, and work with Beijing to bring bilateral ties back to the path of healthy and stable development.

China will continue to provide a better business environment for global companies, including U.S. companies, Chen said, welcoming the latter to continue expanding its investments in his country.

Sino-U.S. relations have been deteriorating since former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan in August and delivered a speech described as hostile between the two sides.

Bilateral relations reached a new low this year after the United States dropped what is believed to be a Chinese spy balloon in the skies of the United States, which Beijing vehemently denies.
