This was reported by the press service of the White House.

"Early Sunday morning, President Joe Biden declared an emergency in Mississippi and ordered federal assistance to supplement efforts ... local authorities to eliminate the consequences in the territories affected by... tornadoes in the period from 24 to 25 March 2023," the report said.

It is assumed that in connection with this decision, assistance to the mississippi authorities will be provided by the US Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Earlier it was reported that the number of victims of the tornado that hit the state of Mississippi, increased to 23 people.

Governor Tate Reeves said medical support has been stepped up and more ambulances and other emergency equipment have been brought in for those affected.
