On Friday, the police became aware of an assault at a residence in Uppsala. When they arrived at the scene, they found a woman who was badly beaten. The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"We don't know the extent of the injuries, but they shouldn't be life-threatening," said Magnus Jansson Clarin, the police's press spokesman.

Also in the residence was a man in his 30s who was arrested and later arrested.

"The people have had some kind of relationship. With respect to the plaintiff, we don't want to go out with so much information.

'Unfortunately far too common'

It is not common for the police to report crimes in the home environment. According to Magnus Jansson Clarin, this is because they do not always succeed in apprehending the suspected perpetrator and that it can pose a danger to both the plaintiff and relatives if the crime is noticed in the media.

"It's terrible with this type of crime and it's unfortunately far too common. People talk about shootings and crimes in a gang environment, but these types of crimes that happen in homes are usually many more and at least as serious – if not even more serious," he says.
