«

You're not done seeing us in Africa ». This was the message of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the end of the last US-Africa summit in mid-December in Washington. And indeed, after the Secretary of the Treasury, after the First Lady Jill Biden, after the head of American diplomacy himself, and while waiting for the president, it is now the No. 2 of the American executive who travels to ensure the follow-up of this summit.

With a message and a will: to change the perception and discourse on Africa by talking about something other than crises and instability. It is a journey resolutely turned towards the future, technology and youth. For this tour, the Vice-President will pass through countries that do not face the most difficult of security, poverty or governance issues.

On the contrary, the administration insists on the democratic qualities of the countries crossed: first Ghana, then Tanzania, whose first president lifted the bans on opposition parties, and finally Zambia, where she had already gone younger when her Indian grandfather worked there. At each stage, Kamala Harris will meet with heads of state, but also with representatives of civil society. His entourage expects a warm welcome for the first African-American woman vice president in American history.
