The Prime Minister says he is neither willing nor able to comment on the legal process that is underway regarding the allegations against the member of parliament and the woman in question. However, he stresses that the party is putting a lot of effort into ensuring that the member, who on Friday took time out from his posts, is in good hands.

"You have to make sure that a person who finds themselves in such a situation and needs support around them also gets it.

Had sex in the man's apartment

The suspected woman and M-member began their contact last fall. In December, the man invited the woman and another friend to his apartment.

According to the preliminary investigation, a picture was taken while the M-member and the women had sex, which was then used to extort the man for around SEK 65,000. If the member of parliament did not pay, the woman would leak the image to the media and ruin his career, according to the preliminary investigation. In early February, he sounded the alarm to SAPO, which launched an investigation.

The M-member is now being investigated for suspected sex purchases at the Special Prosecutor's Office. The man denies having bought sex and states in interrogation that he paid a taxi to the women and gave one of them SEK 5,000 to help pay the rent.

The woman, in turn, faces charges of aggravated extortion. She, too, denies any wrongdoing.
