Uranium at the time of application is used to break down solid barriers, and during a collision with them it disintegrates into nanoparticles. In this form, they create an aerosol in the air, depending on the wind rose, they can spread over huge distances, the specialist said.
"We were able to prove that this happened in Serbia. Everything was contaminated. Later, along the biological chain, the substance enters the body of animals. We have not only the evidence, but also the concentration of uranium 238, 235," he said.
Kovačević noted that the results of the studies proved that in the body of people three years after the use of these munitions in Yugoslavia there were from 36 to 231 nanograms per liter of urine.
"We compared this with American data on the use of ammunition in 1991 in Iraq. Then the American soldiers five years later had a concentration of about 150 nanograms. The so-called effect markers, detected genetic changes in our country at the level of 20.7% with a normal level of 1-2%! We also faced changes in the kidneys and, finally, in the form of malignant tumors, "the expert said.
He recalled that it often takes time for the processes to begin in the body.
"It is only a matter of time before the severe consequences of bombing develop in each organism - general somatic diseases, cardiovascular diseases and malignant tumors. The consequences will affect the offspring. Even Gregor Mendel discovered that hereditary traits extend over thirty generations. And after 900 years, we can expect anomalies. And modern geneticists Watson and Crick discovered that this is possible after 1800 years, and the negative consequences can affect sixty generations, "the interlocutor noted.
Kovačević warned that now "the dogs of war of the West want to use the same depleted uranium in Ukraine."
