During an inspection on Friday, damage was found in the construction of the railway bridge in Vänersborg. This means that no trains can pass. However, the bridge will be opened, with special measures in the coming Monday to deal with waiting Lake Vänern shipping.

"It's a crack in a beam that makes it not safe to drive trains on," says Bengt Olsson, Press Officer at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Serious injury

The damage is considered serious and must be remedied as soon as possible. It aims for it to be ready by mid-April, but cannot be sure.

"We don't know when it's finished. It depends on how quickly we get parts. This can happen if they need to be manufactured," says Bengt Olsson.

Train passengers are asked to contact their train company for details of upcoming trips.

"There will be bushings, but how and when do you get to contact your train company about," says Bengt Olsson.
