The man, who is in his 50s, came to Ronneby shortly after the crimes were allegedly committed in Syria. Since then, according to his defense attorney, he has lived an ordinary life in the city as a self-employed person.

But on Tuesday he was arrested by the police task force in a morning raid, and since then he has been in custody.

He is now being remanded in custody for two counts of serious war crimes. Exactly what it is he is suspected of having done, the prosecutor does not want to comment.

"I can't go into that at the moment," says Reena Devgun, prosecutor at the National Unit against International and Organized Crime.

Two people are listed as plaintiffs, and are thus considered victims of the man's suspected crime.

"It is too early in the investigation to comment on what they have been through or what allegations are being made against the man. But the prosecutor believes that these are serious crimes, says Ghita Hadding Wiberg, counsel for the plaintiffs.

According to information provided to the BLT, the man allegedly belonged to the Islamic State, IS.
