They throw soup on paintings, stick their hands on highways or tag the doors of places of power... Environmental activists are embarking on ever more spectacular actions to denounce climate inaction.

New activist groups have emerged in recent years, such as Just Stop Oil, Insulate Britain and Last Renovation. And they have been particularly active in 2022.

But how far can these activists go? The methods used are controversial and divisive, including within the activist milieu. So much so that Extinction Rebellion UK, the pioneer of this new generation of activists, has decided to temporarily stop the actions this winter.

From Paris to Stroud, the birthplace of Extinction Rebellion, ENTR has followed these activists who advocate non-violence while relying on shocking images to put pressure on governments. Even if it means risking fines, police custody and prison sentences.
