The supplement for families receiving housing allowance will be extended until 31 December 2023 and increased from 25 to 40 per cent of the preliminary housing allowance. The cost of the measure is estimated to be SEK 720 million.

But for those households that receive income support from the municipality at the same time, the increased housing allowance leads to a corresponding reduction in income support, and the supplementary allowance thus has no effect. Therefore, the Social Democrats, the Center Party and the Left Party in Järfälla have decided to temporarily change their rules so that families with children with financial assistance will also be able to take part in the crisis support.

The municipality believes that about a hundred families with children will be affected by the decision.
