According to a ranking by the specialized firm Hurun in Shanghai, China is still the country with the most billionaires in the world. With 969 people affected in 2023, the People's Republic is ahead of the United States. This study also highlights the fact that more and more women are among the richest people in the country.

This is a rather unexpected area in which China is nevertheless an assertive world leader. Even if it has experienced the crisis, with 229 billionaires less according to the list of the specialized firm Hurun in Shanghai, the People's Republic still retains its first place this year again of the largest number of large fortunes, with 969 billionaires in 2023 against 691 for the United States. The richest is Zhong Shanshan, a mineral water manufacturer with $67.1 billion according to Forbes magazine.

But the big novelty of this ranking revealed Wednesday is the rise of women. "Of the 200-300 female billionaires on the list this year, 80 percent are from China," said Rupert Hoogewerf, president of Hurun in China.
