Three days after his 32nd birthday, the Atlético Madrid playmaker has finally found the taste of the goal in the blue jersey, in the opening of the qualifications for Euro-2024 in Saint-Denis. He scored his 43rd international goal in the second minute, served by Mbappe.

His last goal was on November 13, 2021 against Kazakhstan (8-0) and he had gone through the 2022 World Cup without scoring, in a more remote position.

Third best French scorer in history, behind Olivier Giroud (53 goals) and Thierry Henry (51), Griezmann now has forty-three goals on the evening of his 118th cap, the 75th in a row (record).

Passer on the first goal, Mbappé also scored in the 21st minute. This 37th goal in selection allows the new captain to rank fifth among French goalscorers, at 24 years old and after only 67 caps.

Benzema has reached the same total in 97 caps. Mbappé is now aiming for fourth place from Michel Platini (41 goals).

He continues his fantastic series, after his hat-trick in the final of the last World Cup, lost on penalties against Argentina (3-3, 4-2 tab).

Scorer against Australia (4-1) and author of a double against Denmark (2-1) and Poland (3-1), Mbappé is on a series of 19 goals in his last 17 matches in the blue jersey. He finished top scorer of the World Cup in Qatar, with eight goals.
