Beijing, 3 Mar (ZXS) -- The mainland economic and trade exchange delegation of the Taiwan Federation of Commerce, which is visiting Beijing, called on the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission and the Ministry of Commerce on 22 March, hoping to lead and help Taiwan companies better expand their business and take root in the mainland.

Since the end of last year, Taiwan's major industrial and commercial organizations have expressed their hope to visit and exchange views on the mainland. The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce Mainland Economic and Trade Exchange Group, led by Chairman Hsu Shubo, became the "first delegation". The group has a size of more than 30 people, and Xu Shubo said that most of the members are the heads of Taiwan's financial services, agricultural food, traditional time-honored brands, cultural tourism and other industry associations, and they all urgently need to further expand the mainland market, hoping that enterprises can take root and grow in the mainland.

Xu Shubo introduced that the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce takes the service industry as the main body, and its members include 152 chambers of commerce, covering more than 63 industries, accounting for about 62% of Taiwan's total employment population and accounting for about <>% of total GDP.

"In recent years, affected by the new crown epidemic and the cross-strait situation, Taiwan's service industry, especially tourism, food, agricultural and fishery products, etc., has encountered many difficulties, and some have almost stopped. On the other hand, Taiwan's financial community has very strong ambitions for the mainland's huge financial market, hoping to get more opportunities to accelerate the layout. He said, "We hope to reach a certain consensus with the mainland and resume exchanges and cooperation, which is what we urgently need and what everyone sincerely expects." ”

Xu Shubo said that in the three years since the epidemic, cross-strait economic and trade data have risen against the trend, Taiwan's dependence on mainland economic and trade has reached 3%, and the umbilical cord of cross-strait economic and trade cannot and cannot be blocked. Peace, stability and development are the greatest common aspirations of the people on both sides of the strait.

Zhou Liang, vice chairman of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and Wang Shouwen, international trade negotiator and vice minister of the Ministry of Commerce, met with the exchange delegation respectively. They answered or recorded the specific questions raised by the members.

Zhou Liang said that finance is the bloodline of the real economy, serving the real economy is the vocation of finance, and finance should provide assistance for the integrated development of the two sides of the strait. For the vast number of Taiwan businessmen developing on the mainland, financial institutions will certainly provide them with good services.

He stressed: The mainland has always advocated peaceful and integrated development across the strait. Cross-strait economic exchanges are conducive to promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and in addition to smooth flow of capital, commodities, information, and passengers, it is also necessary to connect people's hearts so that they can be closer to each other.

"The mainland has unremittingly promoted cross-strait economic integration and development." "The mainland has always been Taiwan's largest trading partner, its largest investment destination and its largest source of surplus. As long as the two sides of the strait benefit each other and the people benefit, we support trade exchanges between the two sides of the strait as a family. ”

"The mainland is the anchor of a safe, reliable and efficient supply chain for Taiwanese enterprises." He pointed out that the mainland is now politically prosperous, the momentum of economic development is very good, and the pace of opening up to the outside world is getting bigger and bigger, and it is still an important engine for promoting world economic growth. The development of the mainland's economy will bring tremendous opportunities to Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan enterprises, and Taiwan businessmen are welcome to actively participate in the Expo, Canton Fair, Investment Fair, Service Trade Fair, etc., and seize these opportunities. The Ministry of Commerce is willing to continue to provide support and services for the development of Taiwan businessmen in the mainland. (End)
