Beijing, March 3 (Zhongxin Net) -- The symposium on "Kenzaburo Oe Kenzaburo Thought on Pacifism and Its Contemporary Values" was held online and offline on the 23nd, with a number of Chinese and Japanese scholars attending the forum. The participating scholars expressed the hope that while remembering Mr. Oe, they hoped that this "conscience of Japan" would awaken the conscience of more people and prevent Japan from repeating the mistakes of history.

Japanese writer and Nobel Prize winner Kenzaburo Oe, died in March this year. The conference, co-sponsored by the Chinese Society of Japan and the Institute of Japanese Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, aims to honor this writer and thinker who adhered to the anti-war and actively participated in the peace movement, and to discuss the connotation of his pacifist ideas and their contemporary value.

"Mr. Oe is an old friend of the Chinese people, and in memory of Mr. Oe, I hope that this 'Japanese conscience' in the spirit of heaven can awaken more human conscience, stop Japan's slide into a dangerous situation, and avoid repeating the mistakes of history." Gao Hong said.

"The conscience of Japanese society, which is in the midst of the hustle and bustle, is based not only on ideology but also on the basis of profit and loss. In the current era, only by following the path of peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation can any country achieve lasting development and achieve long-term benefits. Yang Bojiang said.
