"LBJ," who injured a tendon Feb. 26 in Dallas, has resumed his activities on the floor, the Lakers said, noting "a step-by-step progression of his movements," without however establishing a schedule for his return.

But according to the two well-informed media, James is on schedule to play the last three or four games of the regular season, crucial for the Lakers in the fight for the playoffs. Currently, they are in 10th place in the Western Conference, the last in the play-off (7-10).

The final three games will be in Los Angeles, against the Clippers on April 5, the Phoenix Suns on April 7 and the Utah Jazz, one of their direct competitors, on April 9.

Asked about the nature of James' workouts, Lakers coach Darvin Ham said, without spreading, "They're intense and going well."

Prior to his injury, James averaged 29.5 points (50.1% shooting), 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game, exceptional statistics for a 38-year-old, who is in his twentieth season in the NBA.
