The image shows Russia's president kneeling in front of China's leader, it has been seen hundreds of thousands of times on social media - and is allegedly photographed during Putin and Xi Jinping's ongoing meeting in Moscow. "What's going on in this picture anyway?" one user wrote on Twitter.

The balance of power between the two countries is not completely even according to several experts SVT has spoken to.

"I believe that this increasing power that China will gain over Russia will force Russia to accept more and more Chinese demands," analyst Hugo von Essen said in SVT's Morgonstudion on Monday.

But there is no evidence that any kneeling has taken place.

Much more likely is that the image is fake – a creation of AI.
