Mission Review has gone through a large amount of video footage from the riots that followed Rasmus Paludan's election tour during Easter 2022. The footage shows a hard-pressed police force. In a never-before-seen clip, police officers are first heard asking adults who arrived at the scene to back off. After that, a warning is heard from a female police officer:
"We're going to shoot your children, don't you get it?
Vacant police officers armed themselves
During the operation, the municipality stopped home care and home health care from visiting users in the area and police asked the public to stay away. In post-riot trials, police officers have testified that they encountered mothers with children in their arms among the rioters.
Mission review may also show that police officers who were not part of the command joined Navestad on their own volition. Even idle police officers armed themselves with guns to participate.
"Not to be magnified"
Östergötland's commander Mikael Backman emphasizes that he does not direct any formal criticism at the police officers who chose to go to the scene.
- I mean it shouldn't be magnified. The employees who, on their own initiative, went to the areas of operation were equipped for work in the external service. These were both police officers who were on leave and those who served in regular line operations," says Mikael Backman.
