Already in November, there were signals that the staff would not be enough to fully staff the intensive care unit in Kronoberg during the summer. Rumors that the intensive care unit in Ljungby would have to close began to circulate, and aroused both concern and anger.

On Wednesday, the region presented its proposed solution, and it emerged that the two intensive care beds in Ljungby will be closed during the summer weeks 26 to 33.

"We have turned and turned on different options, but have not found a solution that covers the entire staffing needs during the summer. The focus has been on finding a solution that means robust, patient-safe and quality intensive care for the entire county, says Therese Paldan.

However, staff for emergency care, stabilization and advice to the wards will remain, and care before and after surgery.

– At Ljungby Hospital, we will be able to receive patients who need urgent care and care for them in an initial stage. What will be different compared to regular operations is how long we can care for the most seriously ill in Ljungby, says Therese Paldan.
