Japanese police have arrested Jessica Michibata, model and also ex-wife of F1 driver Jenson Button, for alleged possession of MDMA, a drug commonly known as ecstasy.

According to The Japan Times, it is suspected that the top model was waiting for this substance in the hotel where she was staying in Tokyo with an acquaintance.

One of the customs officers found the drug hidden in a package that had arrived in Japan from abroad. That's when Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department investigators raided the hotel, which was at the shipping address of the package, and arrested Jessica, along with her companion.

So far, Michibata has denied these accusations that bind him to MDMA use. Her modeling agency, Revive, has issued a statement: "We apologize to everyone for any concerns caused by reports about Jessica Michibata, who belongs to our company. We are currently unable to contact Michibata directly and are gathering information to confirm the facts. As the incident is being investigated by the police, we will refrain from revealing further details."

MICHIBATA AND BUTTON

Jessica Michibata met pilot Jenson Button in 2008 at a hotel bar in Tokyo and they began their courtship eight months later. In 2014 they married and only a year later they divorced. However, both have ensured that they always maintain a very good relationship. Little else is known about the romantic life of the top model. It was later rumored that she might be starting a relationship with American film producer Ken Kao, after attending a film premiere with him in 2017. That same year, Michibata gave birth to their daughter Joy.
