The Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, announced on Wednesday that the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, will meet next week with the president of China, Xi Jinping, during a state visit to the country on March 30 and 31.

In an interview on Cadena Ser, the minister has valued the official visit and the "undoubted weight" of the Spanish president "in the world". "China has a key role in its possible mediation in the war in Ukraine," he said.

Bolaños explained that Sánchez will go to China on the occasion of the next Spanish presidency in the European Union in the second half of the year and stressed that it will also be an important visit "from the economic and commercial point of view", because the president will meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum with other Spanish leaders and companies "that have investments in China".
